Unless you have not been on social media or you have spent a few weeks on another planet (unlikely in current restrictions) you will of course be aware of the hundreds of industry colleagues preparing to support the Travel Day of Action on June 23rd to lobby for a safe restart of international travel.

In  London, Edinburgh and Belfast we are all being encouraged to take part by setting up meetings with MPs at official events, locally or virtually, and support the day on social media.

I will of course be attending the day to show support for our industry desperate for sector specific support. We launched our business last August thinking that within no time at all we would have seen travel restart and we could get back to some sense of “normal”. We are lucky in many ways to have secured several new partnerships but they are all starved of customers and income.

We all sensed optimism that light was at the end of the tunnel and it does feel closer but we are not off the roller coaster ride yet and I hope the government listen and respond to breathe life and energy back into our industry

  • How to get involved on June 23
  • Attend an organised lobby event. Consult your agency consortium to register for Westminster, London; the SPAA for Holyrood, Edinburgh; and the Association of Northern Ireland Travel Agents for Belfast
  • Arrange a meeting with your MP, in person or virtually on the day. Email Abta with any meetings arranged at the London event
  • Write to your MP using a templated email provided by Abta
  • Follow #traveldayofaction on social media
  • Take part in a Twitterstorm
  • Tag your MP or devolved representative into social posts about the day
  • Share template posts and graphics on social media
